You should have a single folder called "ImageIsle" after unzipping this file you downloaded after purchase. Simply FTP or upload the ImageIsle folder to the root of your web site or any subfolder you desire. Make sure you upload this folder and ALL its sub files and folders exactly as they are, to your web site and server. 2. Now, simply type your web site url and the folder path where you uploaded ImageIsle (example: http://yourwebdomain.com/ImageIsle/). Thats it! The system will figure out where it is installed relative to the root of your web site and create all the nessecesary variables for your installation, including database paths. This will occur the first time you surf to your new ImageIsle web site, so please wait a few seconds while the system instantiates itself. No database install or special file application installations necessary. The system will do it all for you. You are ready to go to the ImageManager Module inside ImageIsle and begin uploading images! 3.Any problems? Also, be sure to visit our "FAQ's" section inside our web site: http://www.whitepacificsoftware.com/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SERVER SETUP & CONFIGURATION REQUIREMENTS: Operating System: Requires Microsoft Windows Server to run(IIs) - Either Windows NT/Windows 2000/Windows 2003 Web Server Requirements: ASP Classic (3.0) and ASP.NET 1.1 must be setup to run on the web server and site Web Server Requirements (additional): MSXML must be installed on the server (setup by default on almost all IIs server) Web Server Permissions: IUSR and ASP.NET "read/write" permissions required for all folders Requirement Details Below: WINDOWS WEB SERVER REQUIRED: ImageIsle will only run on a Windows Server (Internet Information Services - IIs). Many ISP's support Windows. Please ask your ISP what kind of box or server your web site is on and if it would also run on Windows. Some may even move your site for free! But you must have your site running on a Windows Server. You can also buy hosting or find free hosting and post ImageIsle there as well, if you like. Even though ImageIsle is built on Active Server Pages(ASP 3.0), which will run on some Linux/Apache boxes, it also needs ASP.NET 1.1 (thumbnail and rotate tools) and MSXML (database processing), so Windows is prefered. It can be run on Windows NT, but make sure your server supports the right version of VBScript and MSXML, both of which should be updated if Internet Explorer 5.5 has been installed on the server. It is better if ImageIsle is installed on Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2003 Server. It may also run on other Windows servers, like BizTalk, Commerce Server, etc. Check your specific server or ISP and ask them what they support. Again, on Windows, most systems already have ASP, ASP.NET 1.1, and a flavor of MSXML already installed. But if they dont, please ask you ISP or host provider to verify. (The web site does have some troublsehooting script you can run to detect what version of VBScript and MSXML it supports. Its very important that all three are running with the correct permissions on the server before the application will run correctly. ASP CLASSIC AND ASP.NET 1.1 REQUIRED: As mentioned, you must have ASP (Classic 3.0) AND ASP.NET 1.1 running on your Windows IIs server. In Windows 2000 Server, there are no special setup issues. But on Windows 2003 Server, you have to make sure you have enabled both ASP and ASP.NET 1.1 on the web server in IIs to use them. Most ISP's have both working by default, but some turn off these items for security reasons, when not used. If the site does not appear to run, or generates errors (bottom of the page), have them check that ASP (Classic - 3.0) is enabled. If the thumbnail or rotate areas wont run, or you get a special yellow and white exception screen in your browser when you upload images or rotate in the ImageManager Module, then you need to enable ASP.NET 1.1 on the box in IIs. THere also may be a permission problem (see below) for either ASP.net or the anonymous web guest account (see below). PERMISSIONS: READ/WRITE ACCESS MUST BE SETUP ON THE WEB SERVER FOR ImageIsle TO RUN! In order for ImageIsle to write to the web server, you must give the IUSR (anonymous) and ASP.NET process identities full read/write/delete/modify permissions on the server. These permission must be set so that they will successfully "propogate" down to the "ImageIsle" folder and all its sub files and folders. If you are using a server someone else hosts for you, do not worry, this is usually done for you and must be done by your ISP. Please request this setup from your ISP provider if you note any problems uploading files or writing thumbnails in the upload area. If you need to know how this is done on the web server, please read below, for reference: Just go onto the IIs web server, right click the folder that is the root of your web site, and choose properties. In this dialog box click the security tab, and then advanced button. Make sure both the "IUSR" and "ASP_NET" (NETWORK_SERVICES usually, on Windows 2003 servers) identity accounts are added in the list, and change the permissions for both accounts so that they both have read and write enabled. When you have done that, make sure you click the check box to "Replace permission entries on all child objects..." and click the "Apply" button. This will force inheritance on all child folders and files under your web site root folder and affect the ImageIsle folder and its ASP and ASP.NET file permissions. This makes sure the engines and service accounts that control ASP, ASP.NET and MSXML have access to manipulate files and write them to the server as needed. In general, you can apply IUSR read/write permissions on the ImageIsle folder on down. But the ASP.NET account must have permissions beginning at the web root of the web application. Because ImageIsle does run a limited number of ASP.NET files and processes, it must have those permissions set from the web root and propogated down through the ImageIsle folder itself. (Keep in mind, these permissions apply to physical folders on the actual web server, not virtual folders controlled by IIs). Note: At this time, we do not use "impersonation" in the .net application pages. This may be setup in the ImageManager MOdule in ImageIsle using the web.config file, if needed. That can be set as well using a text editor. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HELP AND SUPPORT When accessing the web product using your browser, you may find you need a little help understanding what each section of the web product does. If you do, we have built a special help section for each module in the product. Every "Module" accessed via the dropdown menu in the upper left corner of the screen, comes with its own Help system. This includes a single page with details about the module and may be accessed by clicking the "?" icon in the upper right of the module interface. LoadXMLFile Method : Added timer that allows multiple users the ability to update and load the same XML files. Before, the system would create XML load exception and multiple users could not update the XML at the same time. Example of this error was uploading images, while another browser user was assigning them. Now, the latter will wait in a timed loop until the former process is finished processing the XML file. 13. Removed copyright symbol from product name. Program remains copyrighted. 14. Added "Access is Denied" physical folder permission detector, so users can get a message if they have not applied the correct anonymous IUSR and ASP.NET read/write permissions on their ImageIsland folder and subfolders. 15. Added readme.txt file to Storage folder which fixes installation bug, where if left empty, when extracting using WinZip on Win 2000, the "Storage" folder is not installed or extracted. This causes all uploads to fail.
